Jacks’ eyes darted around the coop, his heart lurching as he realized a chicken was missing from its usual place. Frantically scanning the area, he halted abruptly at the sight of a small mound of feathers scattered on the ground. A chill raced through his veins. “No, no, no, no” he cried out.
Jack knew all too well what this ominous discovery implied. With urgency gripping his every step, he dashed back inside to retrieve a towel and a box, the makeshift vessel for the lifeless bird that had once graced his farm.
